The hands-on approach

In 2015 we launched our own value-creation strategy, aiming to improve the performance of UK-listed companies with solid underlying businesses, but which may be undervalued due to corporate governance or strategy.

We strongly believe that activism represents “value creation” rather than “value identification” and offers managers the opportunity to gain an intrinsic view into the management of a business by allowing them to improve corporate governance, protect jobs and often prevent pension schemes from being the first casualty of a poorly run business.

Our long-term secular view is based on the belief that in a low interest rate and low-growth environment, managers who take a hands-on approach to their investments are more likely to outperform traditional fund managers.
